User Reviews about Healing Back Pain Naturally: The Mind-body Programme Proven to Work
I bought this book after recovering from an acute back pain which made it painful to even drive for more than 30 minutes, due to the sciatica. This book should probably be read by every male age 35+, as they will probably benefit, either by prevention, or by assistance in a non-medical cure. (Insert usual dont-sue-me caveat about consulting with your doctors here). In my case, I had a strained back due to years of ignoring my hamstrings, which were as a result, fairly tight. This is a common result of sitting or cycling too much. So if you cant touch your toes, I suggest joining a Yoga class until you can. Or else, you are set up for backache.
This book is an excellent book, because it focuses on how the back works, and in particular, how back pain leads to muscle spasms, which lead to more pain, in a vicious cycle. The Author had a severe experience in his youth, and learned from the experience, how to look after his back. The book is full of exercises, with the main theme being that the best way to fix a back, before or after it snaps, is by carefully strengthening and making flexible the muscles. This is no "new-age" book, as the word "naturally" in the title may suggest, rather its simply a reminder that surgery is often a bad move, and one that can be avoided by listening to the pain, which is the body's way of telling you how to fix things. That way, is to safely respect and improve the muscles which support the spine. -- Sensible and effective
